Fire
A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 8d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
* - (a tiny ball of bat guano and sulfur)
Player: Before we start, I should let you know I'm a Wild Magic Sorcerer.
DM: Oh, ok. Remind me about surges, I don't always remember.
*30 minutes later*
Player: Oh I cast a leveled spell! Can I roll for a surge?
DM: Yeah, sure.
*rolls 13*
Player: Awwww.
*15 minutes later*
Player: Ok, I used my Tides of Chaos to get advantage on the save last round and I cast Chromatic Orb this round, can I roll on the surge table to get my Tides back?!
*DM glances around at the rest of the table, seeing nervous looks from those not buried in their phones*
DM: Ummm sure, why not, it's a class feature.
*Wild Magic Sorcerer fist pumps and grabs two d10s. Rolls 0 and 8.*
Player: Oh shi...............
Remember that this also hits allies when you throw it in the middle of a battle, unless you are an evocation school Wizard.
...so fireball does not set anything worn or carried on fire. Does that include hair or fur?
this is overpowered af you cards
I see spells like this are highly regarded, but I keep going back to conjure animals, which if you summon 8 1/4 CR beasts, does huge damage EVERY round for one slot. What am I missing? We had a troublesome octopus type homemade mob, and our 8 wolves made short work of it over 2 rounds.
is this an arcane spell?
What is the DEX needed to save?
